Automatic RFID disabling mechanism for credit card or similar

The primary embodiment consists of a conductive staple - like structure integrated into the card. The staple is placed along the antenna structure built into the card. When the card is inserted into a user's wallet, money clip, or other holder, this structure is pressed down. When this structure is pressed down, it short-circuits the antenna effectively disabling the RFID unit from responding to unintended or malicious queries. Slight spring-loading is used to assure that when the card is removed from the wallet, the structure disengages from the circuit allowing full functionality of the RFID function.

Thus the user needs to take no action beyond normal use of the card to assure that when not in use the RFID information cannot be hacked.

Many alternative mechanical and electrical methods are possible. The disclosed is intended to cover any use of a spring-like mechanism to disable RFID tags when placed in a holding device.
