Enabling lowest-cost wireless imaging solution by combining the baseband processing and image processing on a single SOC CPU with discrete KGD DRAM and Radio die in a single system in a package (SIP)

Abstract

Disclosed is a method to create a wireless print controller while maintaining low costs, a smaller board area, a simple solution design, and an efficient use of resources.

Description

A.   Prior solutions and their disadvantages

Creating a wireless print controller requires a complex wireless baseband implementation, usually implemented as a complex digital logic and protocols running on a central processing unit (CPU) and memory sub-system. In addition, creating a wireless print controller requires an imaging subsystem, usually implemented as complex digital logic running on one or more additional CPUs with their own memory subsystem. These solutions require multiple pieces of silicon, large amounts of board area, and difficult signal integrity and electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues. They also are not fully cost-optimized since for large amounts of time, both CPUs are idle and having redundant memory systems adds additional cost.

B.   Problems solved by the invention

A method is needed to create a wireless print controller while maintaining low costs, a smaller board area, a simple solution design, and an efficient use of resources.

C.   Advantages of the invention over what has...
