Abstract
The invention relates to gas turbines. It is a new pilot purge concept. In the new concept the venting to atmosphere is carried out at the same time as the N2 forward purge. This maintains the pressure in the manifold and minimises the risk of backflow from the combustor. The balancing of the pressure in the manifold is achieved with suitably designed orifices in the vent line and the N2 purge supply.to match the N2 mass flow.
