Abstract
This publication relates to an invention for improving the efficiency of a Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP).
It is proposed to improve the efficiency of a CCPP by preheating the fuel gas to a high temperature by extracting feedwater from the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) high pressure (HP) economizer and to recover its high pressure. The return feedwater from the fuel gas heater is pumped by a small auxiliary feedwater pump (AFWP) and routed to the discharge side of the HP feedwater pump.
This concept allows to efficiently reach higher fuel gas temperatures by reducing the power consumption of the main HP/IP feedwater pump and increasing the CCPP net efficiency.
