A Centralized Database Registry for Sensor Devices for Providing Requested Data

Disclosed is a method and system to determine a subset of sensors from a set of sensors which are eligible to provide expected data based on their characteristics and availability.

The system includes a centralized database registry for storing information about each sensor device. The centralized database registry includes following information about each sensor device:

Sensor device identification (such as MAC address)

Sensor device type : sensor - Connected end device ( such as refrigerator or A/C)

Sensor device subtype ( such as BP sensor , CO2 sensor etc)

Description of data format produced by the sensor device

Interval of confidence and precision of the sensor device

In accordance with the method and system, the centralized database registry is employed to service request pertaining data. Below figure illustrates method steps for servicing a data request.

Figure

As illustrated in the figure, in response to receiving a data request from a user, a list of currently active sensor devices is obtained which are returning the requesting data type. Thereafter, the list is filtered to include only those sensor devices that currently fit the data request and location constraints. Subsequently, the filtered list is shared with the user. Also, information access protocol for each sensor device along with the supported data format is shared with the user.
