Disclosed is a method and system for optimally placing context items and their extensions on a remote view screen according to a view port of the remote view screen.

Usually, when a context menu is pulled up within an application, the context menu is placed/positioned based on screen size and window size. However, when an application is being accessed using a remote desktop application, due to the difference in view port, the context menu may appear partially on the remote screen (as illustrated in figure 1) and may require extra steps to view the context menu.

Such placement of context menus cause inconvenience to a user and slows down context menu usage.

In accordance with the method and system disclosed herein, the context menu is placed smartly in positions based on screen resolution and view port of the remote desktop. Figure 2 illustrates intelligent placement of the context and sub context using arrows to next selected content, kept in view port.

The system keeps track of a current remote view port size. It sends this information to the application.
