Japanese (JP) Coverage |
< Previous | Next > |
This page contains information regarding the data sources and coverage for the Japanese patent application publications. For this patent collection, we obtain our primary data using the product Patent Abstracts of Japan (PAJ). Supplemental information is obtained from the European Patent Organization (EPO) using their DOCDB product. DOCDB is the EPO's master documentation database with worldwide coverage containing bibliographic data, abstracts, and citations.

The Patent Abstracts of Japan (PAJ) product contains English-language bibliographic data and abstracts of unexamined Japanese patent applications from 1976 to present. PAJ data is issued once a month. The time delay between publication date of the applications and the issue of the corresponding PAJ is approximately four to five months.
The EPO provides, via DOCDB (which is a part of INPADOC), supplemental bibliographic textual data for JP Patent Applications from 1974 (with a few documents dating back to 1971) to present.
When presenting the DOCDB supplemental information, not all fields are necessarily included. Only fields which are determined to be (possibly) different from or unavailable in the PAJ data are displayed.
