Information on Searching the Library

< Previous | Next >

The Library provides two sophisticated retrieval facilities for locating documents. The first facility is a powerful full-text search engine which indexes the words in each document; this engine is used for classic text-based retrieval. The second facility is a powerful "concept query" search engine which analyzes the words in each document and maps those words into "concepts;" this engine is used to rapidly locate documents which share similar ideas and topic areas.

This section provides background and information on these two engines. For the Text Search engine, details about the optional query searching syntax are provided.
