New: Notes are now part of the IQ Ideas+ workflow
On March 15, 2026, we rolled out a new Notes feature inside the IQ Ideas+ workflow, designed to help teams capture the “why” behind an idea as it evolves, not just the final description.
If you’ve ever revisited an invention record a week later and thought “Why did we choose this approach?” or “What tradeoffs did we already debate?” Notes is now in the workflow, where it’s easiest to find and reuse that context.
Why this matters:
IQ Ideas+ already helps teams define the problem, shape the solution, and iterate toward higher-quality outputs in a structured way. Notes complements that by letting you:
- Preserve decision context (assumptions, constraints, test outcomes, stakeholder input)
- Reduce rework when ideas get handed off between inventor → lead → IP counsel
- Speed reviews by giving reviewers the supporting rationale right next to the work
- Improve continuity across sprints, workshops, and “pick it back up later” projects
Practical ways to use Notes starting today:
- Capture the “delta”: Add a quick note each time the idea changes (“Updated claim scope after prior art check”).
- Log key decisions: “We ruled out X due to manufacturability constraints.”
- Record open questions: “Need SME input on Y” (and close it out when answered).
- Prep for review: Summarize what you want IP/legal to focus on before they evaluate.
Pro tip from CS Engineering:
Treat Notes like the “lab notebook” for invention work: short, timestamped, and focused on decisions—not prose. The goal is clarity and traceability, not documentation overhead.
